Happy Prime Day, Love!
How’s your week going? I hope all is well.
I had no intention of posting for Prime Day but there are so many foodie finds on Amazon that I’d love to share with you. These things run the gamut from practical Trini/Caribbean ingredients and staple seasonings that should be in every pantry to one or two cute, novel items that will bring a little joy into our food-obsessed lives.
Below are my top ten must-have Amazon foodie finds. Let’s go shopping!
#1 Trini Green Seasoning
Yes! The base seasoning of all Trinidadian food is available from local Trini companies on Amazon and quite frankly, you need to have this in your fridge. It is essential for seasoning your plant-based or meat protein sources and giving that authentic Trini flair to any dish.
#2 Casareep
If you’re not familiar, Casareep is a Cassava or Yucca extract most commonly used to flavor the Guyanese dish Pepperpot. It is a rich and unctuous stew that is served primarily during the Christmas holiday season. However, I’ve taken to using this sweet and almost molasses-like extract in a ton of different stews and soups. It makes any dish taste like a warm holiday hug but a little goes a long way. So once you add this to your pantry, you’ll get to use it for months on end.
#3 Walkerswood Jerk Seasoning
Notice with this one, I named the actual brand because if it isn’t Walkerswood or homemade, it’s not jerk! So just trust me and you want to get both spicy and mild because some days you just need a little more heat and other days the flavor of the jerk is enough to make a meal sing. Now you know, I do jerk beans, peas, tofu, veggies—all manner of things. I also love using this jerk seasoning in my Rasta Pasta. Like the Casareep, a little goes a very long way. As long as you keep this refrigerated, you’re good to go for at least 6-7 months.
#4 Bertie’s Original Pepper Sauce
If you like spice, this is one Trinidadian condiment you need to have in your pantry. A drip will add the perfect amount of spice to any and every dish.
#5 Nori Komi Furikake
If you are looking to add fishy or seafood-like flavor to any of your plant-based dishes or just looking for an incredible addition to plain rice or plain rice and eggs (if you’re into that)—this is going to be your favorite new seasoning.
#6 Fly by Jing Chili Crisp
Now you know, I usually make my chili crisp from scratch but I’ve heard amazing things about Fly by Jing. I’m also totally intrigued by the variety of flavors they have—Zhong Sauce, Mala Spice Mix (Numbing), and Sichuan chili crisp. So I’m ordering this variety pack today! Join me!
#7 Braggs Nutritional Yeast
If you’ve been a RECIPE’D subscriber for any length of time, you know that nutritional yeast, specifically Braggs is the holy grail of all things cheesy around these parts. I use this as the base seasoning for all my cheesy sauces from Mac and Cheese to nachos as well as a topping on popcorn and chex mix. Filled with important vitamins esp. B12 and protein for us, plant-based folks, it’s tasty and delicious on snacks and meals. Buy a few containers. I run through this stuff like water.
#8 Coke Can Glasses
I know these have been around for a while and all the rage on TikTok and Instagram and you know what?! It’s worth it! The hype is true. My husband got me these for my birthday and I absolutely enjoy drinking any beverage in them. It adds a touch of class to your drinks. So treat yo-self!
#9 Removable Handle Pots
These are still on my wishlist BUT please let me live vicariously through you! The ease of not having to transfer food from the pot into a container before putting it away is a luxury that I yearn for in this life. If you are lazy like me, go on ahead and get these pots! If my funds weren’t late they’d be already on their way to me. Anywho, go ahead and do it for you because we deserve this level of luxury in our culinary lives!
#10 Ramen Cooker Bowl
Now, this is just a cute novelty item or gift you can carry instant ramen to work in and cook it all in the same bowl with your gourmet additions or you can give this to the college students or non-cooking bachelor/ettes in your life. Either way, I think it’s super cute and just the right amount of frivolous and ridiculous with a neat enough price tag.
Welp! That’s all I’ve got for this Prime Day! I hope you add all of these seasonings and maybe a couple of the bigger items to your kitchen because you deserve good-tasting food and luxe kitchen items in your life.
Share this list with friends and family so they can grab a couple of these deals before the day ends too.
Until we link again, happy shopping!
XOXO,
Mel
