Mel's Food Video Faves
Too stressed to cook, grab some takeout and watch videos and file recipes away for later!
Happy Saturday, Loves!
I’m a little late this weekend, but I’ve missed you! What have you been eating and cooking?
As for me, I’ve fallen off of the anti-inflammatory wagon hard. You can see what I’ve been eating in the latest “What I Eat” reel on the Recipe’d IG account (@RECIPED_Sub). Clue: loads of caffeine, nutritional yeast, and carbs…don’t judge me! I’ve been stressed!
However, I’m never too stressed to watch food videos, save links and file away recipes for us. Thus and therefore, this week’s issue is a list of my favorite new food videos for you to check out.
Let’s get watching…
The Videos
I watch food videos with different intentions. Some, I watch to collect recipe inspiration or because I’m intrigued by the history of food and culture. Others, I watch for pure entertainment and eating inspo such as mukbangs, taste tests, etc. So here’s a mix that I really enjoyed…
Recipes that might excite you:
New York Times has a great series of recipes on their YouTube channel:
I loved this plant-based Vegetarian/vegan cauliflower shawarma. It was meaty and easy to achieve.
This next recipe is far from plant-based, but I found its history fascinating. It is a stew that originated after the Korean- American war. Local Koreans sought to use up ingredients left behind by American G.I.s. How to Make Budae Jjigae | Eric Kim's Korean Essentials
And then there is Yeung Man Can Cook, I like the calming nature of his channel and his recipes are easy to follow. I came across his Vegan Mushroom Melt Beet Burger Recipe and immediately added it to my must-make list.
Foodporn for travel, giggles, and commentary…
So, I sometimes watch vegan vlogger, Merle O’neal. I first discovered her on Buzzfeed. Not sure if she is still there, but I came across her Vegan Disney video and was hyped because as a plant-based person that STRUGGLED to find suitable food options at Disney last year…I needed this!
Speaking of Buzzfeed [see how smooth that was;-)], I’m in love with their takeout ranking videos, especially from BuzzFeed Oz (Australia) and Buzzfeed India. Aussie’s try eachother’s pasta orders made me laugh!
And last but not least, there is my girl, Miss Jemima. You know I find her hilarious and I found this old mukbang/ spicy noodle challenge video of hers and couldn’t resist. I was not disappointed. You won’t be either.
I hope you enjoy these videos as much as I did.
If you like, love, or hate this issue, don’t forget to share it with your peeps so that you can do that together. After all, food is about community.
Until we meet again, remember I love yuh like cook food and if you have time, cook some food because damn it, there’s food in our houses!!
XOXO,
Mel
